Temple of Remembrance

A Virtual Gathering

July 31 - August 2, 2020

Imagine you are a note rolling off the tongue of Mystery, where your body carries a particular vibration and tone that it can only know as music because of all of the other notes being sung. Imagine that such a note lives inside a thread in a tapestry being woven by the ancient Grandmothers of the world, and that this brilliant tapestry is only possible because of all of the other threads - including your own. Now imagine that upon this tapestry is an image woven from all the strands that entangle, and that the image is of a great Goddess singing an emergent and ever-changing song that tells the story of the world. And now remember that you are both a note and a thread in all of that.

Can you hear it? Listen. Amidst the busy streets, department stores, TV shows, hustle of work, to do lists, gas stations, paved roads, and houses with their walls… within the petals yawning open to meet the sun, wingbeats, dirt tunnels, lines of steadfast ants, supple paws of cougar, and flinging bodies of grasshoppers. Do you hear the note of your body in that emergent song?

Can you feel the thread of your life bending and curving around the other threads?

Your life is a mysterious gift!

Perhaps you are a flower that can be decocted into medicine, or a beam of moonlight that stirs the flowers of evening to open. Or maybe you are a salty tear let loose from the eyes of ancestors rocking through oceanic waves, or the composted soil where mycelial arms reach out toward distant roots.

The world would not be possible without your life, and the lives of everything else.

The world is always longing for you.

It lives inside the emergent shape of your becoming.

These times of great change and uncertainty are asking each of us to show up and participate from the roots, tears, petals, and moonbeams of our greatest belonging. The world is calling out to each of us. It longs to feel the immensity of our lives lived from the knowings pulsing within our cells, beating within our hearts, coursing through our veins, and bouncing off the soft-tissued walls of our throats.

Every night you dream, every moment your bare feet touch the Earth, every tear that pours from your ancestors eyes through your own, every gasp of wonder filling your lungs, every frightful encounter with mortality, every feather that waits just for you at your feet, every birth pressing its way out from the body of mother, every mythological being slipping between yourself and the TV screen, every screech and cry that cracks you awake in the dead of night is a moment of remembrance.

To remember is to say yes, over and over again, to the gift that is your emergent life.

Join me as we gather together in virtual circle where we will sip cosmic elixirs, speak incantations hidden in poems, braid our voices together in council, allow dreamscapes to shape and reshape us, and dare to dig our feet into the dirt of the imaginal where images, visions, forgotten tongues, songs, creatures, and colors all wait to dance with our souls.

Let us gather together in the sacred

Temple of Remembrance.
