Conjuring Grief: A Chthonic Force of Awakening
Grief is not only an emotional experience of our animality, or asseveration of love and loss. It is a creature in and of itself capable of reshaping the world if only we each make the bodies of ourselves capable of rendering such holy participation. Mythic manifestations of Grief point at this truth through varying personified forms. Cosmogonic storying that impresses upon us the ecological function and necessity of Grief, as well as emphasizing the facets of its expression. For lamentation can be a devotional act of Gaian worship where Grief moves through us the way torrential rains reshape mountainsides and volcanic eruptions forge new landscapes.
Mother Tongue: Wailing with the Whales
"Wailing is like a song from which notes of grief, anger, and pain roll out from the body like waves crashing down upon the shore of one’s existence. Breaking through habituated living, to hear wailing from ourselves or another is to hear the truth of this vulnerable, dynamic existence. An existence comprised of endless and tangled expressions of life reaching out through thresholds of birth and death for each other. Wailing sends out invisible notes, electrifying the stretches of space between and within all living beings, illuminating the web that binds us all together. Feral Lunacy: A Call for Awakening
"For those not yet awake and confused by my feral chattering, aren’t you tired yet, of being asleep? The world needs more lunatics to make love to! Before you misunderstand, let me clarify. A lunatic is not one who is insane. Our western culture, by all accounts, is insane. No, a lunatic is one who is moonstruck, wandering the land of the betwixt-between. They are poems rolling over polished pebbles, coursing down the sides of cliff faces, and churning pools of dreams beneath them as their stanzas come crashing down. At home with the deeper imagery of their mythos, lunatics are fluent in the figurative language of the soul-spirit. They are canyon walls that reverberate with the sound of tears shed by the Earth’s children."
Divergent Mother: A Force Calling Out for Restoration & Healing
"Mother is also a part of the dismembering of contracted paradigms attempting to crush divergent evolutions of this extraordinary existence. And though patriarchy has tried its damnedest over the last five thousand years to obliterate the dynamic power of Mother, we still see Mother growing through cracks in the pavement and rising up along the edges of buildings."
A Gaian Journey to Soul
"Rising from the vast, expansive “singing mind” of the Earth, all beings, from each blade of grass to every roaming buffalo, are dreaming their lives into existence and simultaneously being dreamed forth by the Earth. Psyche, often defined as the human mind, soul or spirit, is anything but strictly of human origin. Rising from a collective and teeming web of life, psyche could be seen as a dynamic and pulsing matrix where the souls of all beings gather to dance and play."
Exhale: Surrender to the Shadow Goddesses
"Though one could remain contented for the remainder of their life, embodying the cultural notion of ignorance as bliss, to avoid the dark emotions is to cut oneself off from the potential for a deep revolution. More to the point, if one hopes to experience the depths of joy and happiness, one must also experience the depths of sorrow and grief. As two halves of the same face, both, in the healthy human, serve one another."
Wild Resilience: Devastation and Giving Birth to Your Wild Soul
"Devastating, as defined by most dictionaries, refers to something that is highly destructive. Destruction, neither inherently evil nor inherently beautiful, carries with it an imperishable and hideous dismantling of life. A dismantling that compels me to break the very word, itself, down in a way that it may not have been, before: deva – stating. Deva, by itself, is a Sanskrit word that, when translated, means “shining ones.” Stating quite simply refers to the ability to express, clearly. In this way, we could redefine devastating to mean giving birth to a living organism that is marked by its shining clarity."
Sensuous Presence: Giving Yourself Over to the Earth
"Like a fungal network or the root systems of trees, these worlds are deeply embedded within each other. Flowing like streams into rivers and rivers into oceans, the diverse currents of each world (material and immaterial), through their relating, create dynamic ecological systems. Systems that teem with life, and give birth to moments filled with potential and magic. These moments, nestled in the heart of now, spring from what Dale Pendell calls ‘the singing mind of the Earth’, and that of our own wild existence. A romance of sorts ensues, and our very beingness, one discovers, is intimately intertwined with the beingness of Gaia and the Cosmos."
Sacred Feminine: The One Inside the Wound
"She is the one waiting for us inside the wound. The one brewing in the infection. The one burning in the fever.
She is both creation and destruction, living within the paradox. Destruction becomes an act of creation. Her medicine is a turning toward discomfort, a steeping in the pain. A faithful walk through the dark, for she is the darkness; the deep void that births and is home to everything."
